Sry 4 the delay....
The Hitchikers.
The time was 10.13 p.m.
My cousin and I were driving up the Karak Highway towards our hometown at Raub.
It was The Hungry Ghost Festival.
People told me that it was suicide to drive on this highway at night.
They say that people who died from landslides come back.
And we were not suppose to look at our rear mirrors.
But this is the fastest way there.
The other route takes ages.
After going through the tunnel at Genting Sempah.
I got an uneasy feeling.
My cousin was fast asleep.
As I drove, I realise that there was only 3 cars on the highway.
One was in front of me.
And the other was on my left.
I was trying to stay awake.
Luckily I bought some coffee before I left my house in Cheras.
The car on my right was carrying a family.
It looks like a woman was driving.
She looked at me and smiled.
I smiled back.
As I drove, it seems as the car which use to be in front of us is now beside us.
The car was red.
I looked at the drivers seat.
No one was there!
I was shocked.
I tried waking up my friend.
But he didnt answer me.
I looked at the car again.
I saw what looks like a man.
A bald chinese man.
He winked at me.
I tried to ignore it's wink.
I concentrated on the road.
I saw a strange figure on the side of the road.
I thought it to be another ghost.
So I passed by.
The red car stop for the hitch-hiker.
The car continued driving.
There was a hitch-hiker in every 2-3 km.
And the same car stopped for them.
It seems like there was 20-30 people in the car.
The car suddenly appeared at my side.
And I saw faces.
Grim looking faces staring at me.
I was terrified.
Luckily there was a Petronas right in front of me.
I stopped at the petrol station.
The car with the lady also stopped.
I was panting and the lady came to ask me what happened.
I told her the whole story.
She said that the same thing happened to her.
We went into the petrol station to ask the cashier.
We told both of our stories.
To my suprise, he wasn't afraid nor did he jumped.
He said that it has happened to everyone that pass by here from 10 - 11 p.m.
He also said that the ghost hitch-hikers are lost souls.
And the driver is trying to lead them to the other side.
I continued driving to Raub.
Luckily nothing happened.
From that incident.
I never forgot what happened.
I never used that highway at night.
And I try to use it in daylight.
